The course consists of rolling fairways lined with rain trees that undulate around several large breathtaking lakes. The tin mine that was developed into a golfer paradise is a must to see, with a beautiful environment of pristine lakes, bush-lands and huge native rain-trees while the lakes teem with a myriad of tropical fishes. The front 9 holes play in the rain trees with a full sense of a tropical atmosphere while the back 9 plays along the lakes, lily-covered and lotus flowerer-covered wetlands. There are many impressive holes. Old, giant rainforest trees hang greatly over the fairways and about natural 10 lakes, big and small, come into play, so it is very challenging course.
This golf resort is home to old majestic rain trees, fruit trees and a veritable menagerie of birds namely the colorful kingfisher, quails, moorhens, storks, hawks and herons. It is not exaggeration to say that the course is one of the most beautiful courses in Asia. Clearwater Sanctuary is a truly breathtaking golf course surrouded by a many types of picturesque scenery.

When I played on the second time in 2010, the green was much faster, so I have upraded the greens condtion.

3rd Par 3 179 yards

3rd Par 3 179 yards
A mid-length par 3. Three pot bunkers on the left and a large bunker lying to the front right of the green come into play. You can enjoy the natural surroundings on this hole.
4th Par 5 591 yards
A long and straight par 5. The mature trees line the fairway on both sides, so this hole has a flavor of a woodland course. The fairway bunkers on the second shot and 3 bunkers guarding the green on the approach shot are well placed.

5th Par 4 402 yards
A dogleg to the right. When you hit the tee shot, you think that this hole is a woodland course. However, the view will change dramatically on the second shot because the visual range is opened up and you see the first water hazard at the corner. The second shot is over water.

7th Par 3 166 yards

7th Par 3 166 yards
A downhill to the tiny green. The green is elevated and guarded by deep bunkers, so you need to hit directly the green and bite it, which is to say that the correct club selection is important. You should definitely avoid the left bunker as the green slopes from left to right, so it will be very difficult to save par from there. The hole offers a breathtaking view of a lake and matured tees behind the green.

9th Par 4 465 yards
A tree-shrouded, long and difficult hole. Anything less than a good and accurate drive will leave you struggling to make par. The second shot is slightly downhill.

12th Par 4 359 yards
A short but dynamic, almost 90-degree dogleg to the left. It curves around and over a lake. Water comes into play on both tee and second shots, so accuracy is important on this hole. The green is wide and not deep.

13th Par 5 556 yards
A straight hole with a lake from the tee to the green on the left. Trees hang over fairways greatly from both sides on this hole and provide “ hazards in the air”, so the range of the landing area off the tee is limited. The splendor trees have a presence. The green is deep and only 12-3 yard wide, so you must hit a precise approach shot.

14th Par 4 420 yards
A beautiful hole with a split-level fairway. A lake on the left and trees on the right are in play on the tee shot. The green is big, slightly elevated, and guarded by bunkers.

A sharp dogleg to the right. To make a short cut, A 250-yard carry is needed to clear a big bunker on the right corner. The bunker looks deceptively close and you are tempted to go over the bunker. When you are successful, a short iron can be used to a narrow, well-protected green.

16th Par 4 440 yards

16th Par 4 440 yards (1)
An almost 90-degree dogleg to the right around a lake. A tee shot away from the lake will require a very long second shot, while a bold tee shot taking the inside line across the lake will be rewarded with a short approach. This hole is beautiful. Too.

An enchanting par 3 over a lake. The front and right sides of the big green face the lake. When the pin position is on the right, this hole will become more difficult.

18th Par 5 559 yards
An excellent, sharp dogleg to the left. The tees shot needs over a lake and the best route is to hit into the left of a large tree on the opposite bank. A good drive across as much water as possible may open up the possibility of reaching the green in 2. The large trees line the fairway on both sides on the second shot.

It is a 30-minutes drive from Ipoh, a 2.5-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur and a 2-hour drive from Penang.

Cozy 32 waterfront chalets are available to stay. The neighboring environment is excellent. When the chalets are full, the golf resort is kind enough to book a hotel in Ipoh for you. Facilities and activities at the resort include a Malay-Style clubhouse, aquatic driving range, tropical lagoon swimming pool, fitness center, tennis courts, badminton courts, bicycle ride, fishing/boating club, 2 restaurants. If you like many outdoors activities, you don’t mind staying here for one month or so. A 9-hole par-3 course is also available that is suitable for beginners. The front 9 holes have lighting and you can enjoy golfing at night.

You must have 3 or 4 players to book on Saturday and Sundays. It was only 2 players booking when I played on Sunday. I pushed a little bit to give us a tee-time, and then the club arranged a club pro to play together. The pro hit 5 over for the front 9, which is the same as mine, probably because his body was not ready due to the very early start, while I hit 3 over but the pro hit 1 under for the back 9, which impressed me as a pro’s play. The measures are in meters.

It seems that Ipoh is famous for beautiful woman. A bond girl of 007 movie that I saw recently is from Ipoh.
